Local Nurseryman Stephen Hansord received the highest of accolades recently at the prestigious Grower of The Year awards. The awards recognise horticultural excellence and significant personal achievement. The gala awards ceremony was held in the Royal Lancaster hotel in London from where Stephen collected his award naming him ‘Young Grower of the Year’ from Paul Ross. 26 year old Stephen has excelled in his work at the companies Parson drove satellite nursery, managing the Strawberry and Hardy Nursery stock production. Wayne Eady, Managing Director, said “Stephen has been instrumental in our fruit production expansion. He has proved to be diligent, responsible and loyal. We look forward to our continued investment in Stephen and young people like him.” Wayne was himself recognised with the same award some 13 years ago and is now managing director of the same company.
